]]> If we need to do local installation of Office 365 to many computers or we need to do it offline then we need to first download the Deployment package and then deploy it using the Office Deployment Tool.

1. Download the Office Deployment Tool, the current link is: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=36778

2. Extract it and we have two files, the setup.exe and the configuration.xml

3. Change the configuration file based to your setup

</Configuration>

At “SourcePath” add the path that the Office will be downloaded.
At “Product ID” select the version, “O365BusinessRetail” or “O365ProPlusRetail”
At “Language ID” select the language to download

4. To download open an elevated command prompt and run:

setup.exe /download configuration.xml

5. To install open an elevated command prompt and run:

setup.exe /configure configuration.xml

Of course we can copy the installation to a USB drive or a network share and deploy using group policy or whatever deployment method we use. Just copy all the folder to the network share and change the “SourcePath” at the configuration.xml.

]]> I had this problem with the metro apps, even with the “Settings”. When I pressed a metro app or the settings the start menu freezes and the app is not opening. The solution that worked for me is this:

  1. Open an Elevated Powershell prompt by pressing the Windows Key, typing Powershell, then pressing Ctrl+Shift+Enter
  2. Paste the following command into Powershell and execute it: 
    Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)AppXManifest.xml"}

]]> In Windows 8 there is no way to remove a wireless netoword form the GUI. In order to do so you must use an elevated command prompt.

To open an elevated command promt, just press the WINDOWS and X keys together and then click on Command Prompt (Admin). Click Yes to the User Account Control message that appears.

To show all wireless profiles on the PC at the command prompt, type:

netsh wlan show profiles

To delete a profile at the command prompt, type:

netsh wlan delete profile name="ProfileName"

This is a simple fix to repair a licensed copy of Microsoft Office 2013 that keeps appearing as an unlicensed copy. This generally occurs with subscription licensing through Office 365.

1.

Make sure all Office programs are closed.

This will ensure the script runs properly.

  
2.

Open the Command Prompt as Administrator

Click Start and in the search field type “Command” and right click the Command Prompt to Run as Administrator.

  
3.

Navigate to the Office Installation folder %ProgramFiles%Microsoft OfficeOffice15

Depending on whether the install is 32bit or 64bit will determine its location.

  
4.

Run “cscript ospp.vbs /act”.

The output should end with “Product Activation Successful”.

  

Conclusion

The ospp.vbs script has many other switches to check the status of the Office install. Please refer to the reference script for more information.
